Sybil Cox Gregory

Sybil Cox Gregory, 92, of Ballinger, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 1, 2011 in her home, surround by family, faith, love and prayer.

She was born January 13, 1918 in Baird Texas to Edward Sterling and Minnie Mae (Houston) Cox. She married James T. Gregory on September 3, 1934 in Winters. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1984. She was also preceded by her parents and a sister, Minnie Ayers.

Sybil was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ballinger and taught Sunday School there. Active in the community she was a Girl Scout leader and did volunteer work at the nursing homes. She had a passion for golf and a special love for her family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelia Dankworth and husband, Dan of Abilene; granddaughter, Danise Dankworth Wills of Abilene; grandson, Gregory Dankworth and wife, Laura of Amarillo; great grandchildren, Krissy Dankworth, Kyla Dodgin and husband, Dustin, Maegan Wills, Orrin Dankworth, Riley Wills, and LeAnna Wills; and 1 great great grandchild, Anna Sanders.

A brother, Doug Cox and wife, Winnie of Ballinger and her dog Orphan Annie also survive.

A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m Tuesday, January 4th at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family request that memorials go to the Hospice of the Big Country in Abilene or a favorite charity.
