Manuel A. Mendiola

Manuel A. Mendiola, 89, of Ballinger passed away Saturday morning, January 8, 2011 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab Nursing Facility.

He was born on March 20, 1921 in Talpa, Texas to Juan and Ricarda (Armendariz) Mendiola. He proudly served in the US Army during WW II. Upon his return, he married Gabriela Jaques on June 12, 1948 in Ballinger. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1983. He was also preceded by his brothers, John, Eddie, Alex, and Joe and his sisters, Elia, Mary, Josephine and Mela.

He was a ranch foreman on the Barr Ranch for many years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Manuel is survived by his son, Johnny Mendiola and wife, Jackie, of Miles; two grandchildren, Billy Michael Mendiola and wife, Heather, of Miles and Erika Moore and husband, Omar, of San Angelo; and five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kennedie, Morgan, Mya and Sydnee.

Rosary will be Monday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial service will be Tuesday, January 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Rowena.
