Juanita T. Godwin

June 12, 1916 — January 10, 2011

Juanita went to be with the Lord on January 10 in Dripping Springs, Texas, after living many years in Ballinger. She was born in Henderson County, Texas, to Ira Lee and Norah Bell Talley on June 12, 1916, and married R. H. (Bob) Godwin in 1937. Known as Aunt Nita to some, Mimie to the grandkids, Sophie to others, and servant to all, Juanita was a loving wife for the years God gave her and Bob. She gave birth to two sons, Rob, of Dripping Springs, and Clark, of Vancouver, Washington. They gave her four grandchildren to spoil, Scott Godwin of Dripping Springs, Brian Godwin of Houston, Kathy Lockhart of Waco and John Robinson of Little Elm, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Bob, sisters Hortense and Odessa, and brother Chester, and is survived by her sister Irmatha, of Ballinger.
Juanita was a life member in Eastern Star for over 50 years, serving in many officers’ positions, including multiple terms as Worthy Matron. She attended Methodist churches in Robert Lee, San Angelo and Ballinger, teaching Sunday School at times and working in United Methodist Women’s groups.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, at the Ballinger United Methodist Church, with graveside services immediately following at Lawnhaven Memorial Cemetery in San Angelo. Viewing and visitation will be at the Lange Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13.
Special thanks to Joelda Cuellar and family, who cared for Juanita in her time of need, and to the wonderful staff of Senior Care of Dripping Springs, who gave her a wonderful home in her last years.
The Methodist churches in Robert Lee or Ballinger would be fitting recipients of memorials.
