Ida Faye Hill

August 6, 1918 — February 2, 2011

Ida Faye Hill, 92, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

She was born August 6, 1918 in Runnels County, Texas to Perry A. and Mattie (Brookshear) Pullin. Ida and Cecil Chester Hill were married December 21, 1935 in Ballinger. He preceded her in death June 24, 1980.

Seamstress Extraordinaire, Mrs. Hill was always willing and able to provide her skills in sewing projects and alterations. She worked at Heidenheimer’s Department Store in Ballinger from 1957 to 1978. For a time she owned and operated her own shop in downtown Ballinger, then gladly and cheerfully continued to sew and alter at her own home for whoever needed her assistance until health problems forced her retirement just a few months ago. She was a member of Business and Professional Women (B&PW) and Avenue B Church of Christ.

Ida Faye is survived by her son, Marion and his wife, Virginia, of Ballinger; her daughter, Joyce McFadden and husband, Guy, of Abilene; and sisters, Anna Beth Whitley and Ruth Davis, both of Odessa. Also surviving are four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, February 5 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Avenue B Church of Christ in Ballinger with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will take place in Garden of Memories.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice in Abilene or a favorite charity.
