Dawse E. Switzer, 88, of Ballinger passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Ballinger.
Dawse was born September 5, 1922 to William David and Ethel Birdie (Redman) Switzer in McCauley, Texas. He was a faithful member of the 9th Street Church of Christ. While serving in the Army in WWII he was in a unit that received two Presidential Citations and was personally awarded two Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Daron Switzer; a brother, Redman Switzer; and a sister; Thelma Branum.
Dawse is survived by his wife, Wanda of Ballinger; sons, David Switzer and wife, Nancy, of Ballinger, Terry Switzer and wife, Terre, of Mereta; grandchildren, Daron Switzer and wife, Jennifer, of Cabot, AR, Seth Switzer and wife, Cerina, of San Angelo, Katy Switzer of Ballinger, Morgan Hansen and husband, Gary, of Sweet Home, OR; sisters-in-law, Juanita Bowman and Margaret Green; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Lange Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 15 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral ceremony will be held at 9th Street Church of Christ in Ballinger on Wednesday, February 16 at 10:00 am with Max Pratt, Portis Ribble, and Van Pendergrass officiating. Burial will take place at Mereta Protestant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Seth Switzer, Cooper Switzer, C.J. Robinson, Bobby Jennings, Daron Switzer, Nelan Bahlman, and Gary Hansen.
