Leota Enid Boothe

February 23, 1921 — February 18, 2011

Leota Enid Boothe passed from this life on February 18, 2011, five days short of her 90th birthday.

She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on February 23, 1921 to Alexander and Anne (Latham) Odom. They moved to the Ballinger area that same year and she was raised in the Blanton and Crews areas on the family farm and ranch. She married Bob Pete Boothe on October 10, 1940 and they farmed and ranched in the Ballinger and Norton area. They retired in 1990 and moved to San Angelo to be with the loves of their lives, their grandchildren, Emily Rose and Robert Cameron Boothe. Bob Pete preceded her in death on August 13, 1994.

Leota won many cooking awards in the Ballinger area. Her cooking career began at the ripe old age of 14 at the Runnels County jail. For many years she was the dietician at Ballinger Memorial Hospital. Her motto was “No one will leave our home hungry.”

We are eternally grateful that Leota passed Christian values, work ethic, wit, and wonderful recipes to her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Robert Q. Boothe, his wife, Jane and their children, Emily and Cameron all of San Angelo.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Fr. Charles Greenwell officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Robert’s home at 1421 Ranch Court, San Angelo, starting at 6:00 PM on Monday evening.

The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Baptist Memorial Center.

Before she became disabled in 2006, Nee Nee loved to travel with the family around the state of Texas to watch her grandchildren participate in sporting events. In lieu of flowers, please make a generous donation to Bobcat Baseball, c/o Robert Q. Boothe, P.O. Box 60130, San Angelo, TX 76906 or to West Texas Boys Ranch.

“We love you and will miss you. What an honor to have had a mother and grandmother like you.”
