Blasa Lara Cordova

Blasa Lara Cordova, 84, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 3, 1927 in Harlingen, Texas to Santos and Manuela (Castanon) Lara. Blasa and Jose Cordova were married March 16, 1956 in Brownsville. She had lived in the community since 1961 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. In 1993 after 16 years of employment, she retired from Dry Manufacturing.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jose Abel Cordova, Jr. and Victor Cordova.

Blasa is survived by her husband, Jose Cordova of Ballinger; daughter, Maria Cordova of Ballinger; brothers, Aniceto Lara of Harlingen and Bruno Lara of San Benito; sisters, Olivia Lara and Santa Lara, both of Houston. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Esmeralda Perez.

Rosary will be recited Friday, March 18 at 7:30 pm at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 19 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
