Anna Mae Frenzel, lifetime resident of the Olfen/Rowena area, passed away late Monday evening, March 21, 2011 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo at age 76.
She was born July 1, 1934 in Olfen to Otto T. and Amelia (Lange) Halfmann. Anna Mae and Lawrence R. Frenzel were married September 14, 1957 in Olfen. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena and was active in St. Ann’s Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of Farm Bureau and VFW Post 9196 Auxiliary.
Area residents will long remember Anna Mae for her delicious cooking. She loved to cook for family and others and was employed as a cook first at St. Joseph School, then at a nursing home, and retired after cooking many meals at the Runnels County Senior Citizens Center in Ballinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rita Bartels: and brother-in-law, David Schwartz.
Anna Mae is survived by her husband, Lawrence Frenzel of Rowena; son, Gregory Frenzel and wife, Alicia, of Fort Worth; daughter, Lisa Fischer of Rowena; brothers, Clifford and Dennis Halfmann of Olfen and Glen Halfmann and wife, Diane of Miles; and sister, Betty Joyce Schwartz of Wall. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bennie and Dorothy Frenzel, Bob and Barbara Frenzel, Margaret Matthiesen, Helen Wilde, and Rose Frenzel; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited Friday, March 25 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 26 at 10:00 am also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Runnels County Senior Citizens Center, the Diabetes Association, or a favorite charity.
