Frank Clifford Rodriguez

Frank Clifford Rodriguez, 52, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

He was born July 4, 1958 in Ballinger to Cleofas and Herminia (Esquivel) Rodriguez. Frank and Nelda Patino were married in Ballinger in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Guadalupanos of the church. He also served on the Knights of Columbus Council and was a CCD teacher for 11 years. He belonged to USSSA in San Angelo, an association for umpires.

Always a hard worker, Frank was employed at Gerber Manufacturing for 14 years, wore several caps (baseball the favorite) at Ballinger ISD for 10 years, and drove for CARR for three years. As a hard-working volunteer, Frank served the community well and often in many ways such as umpiring baseball and managing the BHS Band Booster’s concession stand for several dedicated years. It goes without saying that he was an avid and loyal Bearcat fan. Frank had a smile and a kind word for everyone in everything he did. He will be missed by family, church, school, friends, and all of Ballinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jessie De la Cerda; and sisters, Olga Alambar, Lupe Salas, and Betty Rosales.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Nelda; daughter, Betty Rodriguez, son, Alzado Rodriguez, all of Ballinger; and Rocky and Nikki Rodriguez of California. Also surviving are siblings, Lydia Escobar, Sylvia Flores, Mary Ortegon, Margret Rios, and Clifford Hernandez; several other family members, and a very good friend, Ernest Guevara.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 10 at 7:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 11 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Hugh Wade celebrating. Burial will take place in the Latin-American Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Rico, David Esquivel, Arthur Alvarado, Pete Guebara, Johnny Reyes, and John Escobar. Honorary pallbearers will be members of USSSA Umpires of San Angelo.
