Billie Pauline Cunniff Lee, age 86, of Ballinger passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 in Ballinger, Texas. Billie was a fine Christian woman who knew “she was right with the Lord.”
She was born September 14, 1924 in Ballinger and lived in Ballinger or the Ballinger area all of her life. Her parents were Ira and Daisy (Green) Cunniff.
Billie graduated from Ballinger High School in 1942 and joined the US Army, Women’s Air Corps, in December 1943, serving for the duration of World War II. After returning home, she married Harvey D. Lee on February 14, 1946. They were approaching their 62nd wedding anniversary when Harvey passed away in 2008.
Billie was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Ballinger. She worked at F&M Bank (now Ballinger National Bank) for many years and was an officer in the bank when she retired in the mid-1980’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; one brother, Carlos Cunniff; and one sister, Delores Clark Hall.
Billie is survived by one brother, Harley Cunniff and wife, Geraldine, of Irving; one sister, Cecilia Clark Janssen of Carrollton; brother-in-law, Ray Hall of San Angelo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral service for Billie will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 19 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Ballinger and to special friend and caregiver, Becky Kresta, for their kind and loving care of Billie during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
