Rose Marie (Becky) Brown

September 25, 1928 — July 16, 2011

Rose Marie (Becky) Brown, 82, of Ballinger passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center in San Angelo.

She was born on September 25, 1928, to Helen and John Beckenholdt. In December of 1946, she married Elwood Brown and moved to Ballinger to live in the country and raise her family of four children, Ed Brown, Susan Brown Mansell, Roy Brown and Linda Brown Duggan. She had these children within the span of six years. She must have realized life would be an adventure when she returned home with her first born only to find the bassinet filled with eggs gathered while she recovered in the hospital.

Becky and Elwood loved to travel and took many trips in the United States and overseas. The continent of Africa was one of the few places Becky loved enough to return to a second time. Trips to Big Bend and rafting the Rio Grande were always enjoyed

She was a grand cook, an excellent shot, delightful traveling companion, avid reader and she loved her pets. Family was foremost in her thoughts, and she will be missed.

Her son, Ed Brown, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Elwood Brown, her daughters Susan Mansell and husband Chauncey, Linda Duggan and husband Dale of Ballinger, and son Roy Brown and wife Kathleen of New Mexico, six grandchildren, Brandy Jo Underwood, Genie Brown, Amy Mansell Patterson, Brandon Mansell, Ben Brown, Andrew Brown, Will Duggan and Katy Duggan, plus eight great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Crews Cemetery in Crews, TX. Memorials can be made to the Crews Cemetery, 5601 FM 382, Ballinger, Tx 76821, to Carnegie Library, 204 N. 8th, Ballinger Tx. 76821, or a favorite charity.

Her grandchildren, Brandy Jo Underwood, Amy Mansell Patterson, Brandon Mansell, Katy Duggan, Ben Brown and Andrew Brown served as pallbearers.
