David W. “Tooter” Burton, 70, of Ballinger passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011.
Mr. Burton was born January 2, 1941 in Winters to W. L. and Flora (Nelms) Burton. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from McMurry University and master’s degree from Abilene Christian University then taught physical education in the Ballinger I.S.D. elementary school for over 20 years. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock; but moreover he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Nona; son, Bret Burton and wife, Kathy, of San Antonio; daughter, Jana Herbert and husband, Garrick, of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Chandler, Marshall and Graham Burton of San Antonio; Madalyn and Garrison Herbert of New Braunfels. Also surviving are his brothers, Jack Burton and wife, Margaret; Tommy Burton and wife, Brenda, all of Winters.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, August 19 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A private burial will take place on Saturday, August 20 at Fairview Cemetery in Winters. There will be a service of celebration at 10:30 am Saturday, August 20 at the First Baptist Church in Ballinger.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Ballinger Memorial Hospital, P. O. Box 617, Ballinger Texas 76821.
