Irene Dierschke Bruchmiller

Irene Dierschke Bruchmiller, age 92, of the Bethel community near Ballinger, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Ballinger Memorial Hospital in Ballinger. Irene was born in Bethel on November 15, 1918, the youngest of nine children born to Gustav H. and Elizabeth (Wilde) Dierschke. She attended Bethel school and graduated from Ballinger High School in 1936. Irene married Raymon J. Bruchmiller of Goliad, Texas, on October 15, 1940, in Olfen, Texas. From a young age, she was active in the farm and ranch operation. Irene took a big interest in her children’s school activities and the Paint Rock PTA. She attended many basketball and football games and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. She also enjoyed traveling, politics and caring for her pets. She lived in the Bethel community all her life except for 25 years that she and her husband and children lived on their farm near Paint Rock in Concho County. Irene and Raymon moved to her parents’ home at Bethel, the Gus Dierschke homeplace, which they purchased in 1964. In 2005, the farm was recognized by the Texas Family Land Heritage as being in continuous farming operation by the same family for over 100 years.

Mrs. Bruchmiller was a lifelong devout member of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Olfen. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Sodality and was a charter member of the Olfen Catholic Daughters. In later years, Irene was able to continue living at home due to daughter Linda being her caregiver.


Irene was preceded in death in 2007 by Raymon, her husband of 67 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all eight of her brothers and sisters and their spouses which included Nora and Hugo Braden, Arthur Dierschke, Isabel and Frank Lange, Otto and Annie Dierschke, Winnie (Earl Crockett) and Ray Vincent, Wolley and Rosalie Dierschke, Monroe and Regina Dierschke and Harry Dierschke and by her daughter-in-law Irene Dooley Bruchmiller and her brother-in-law M. J. Najvar.


Survivors include her four children Jo Ann Oman and husband David of Hutto, Barbara Bokor and husband Donny of Buda, Ronnie Bruchmiller of San Angelo and Linda Bruchmiller of Ballinger. Her seven grandchildren include Shawn Oman and wife Nicole of Taylor, Troy Oman of Taylor, Dawn Bokor Pearson and husband Curtis of Helotes, Lori Bokor Summers and husband Michael of Buda, Darren Bokor of Austin, Charlyn Bruchmiller Doyle and husband J. D. of Christoval and Randy Bruchmiller and wife Sarah of Humble, eight great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, her sister- in-law Alice Najvar of Georgetown and many caring nieces, nephews and cousins.


Rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or to the Olfen Cemetery Fund in care of St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1118 CR 234, Rowena, TX 76875.
