Garry Lee Rains

Garry L. Rains, 65, of Ballinger passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at his residence.

Garry was born January 16, 1946 in Synder, Texas to Dale W. and Millie Myrtle (Wade) Rains. He and Alice Candelaria were married August 29, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked most of his life as a rigger. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. Garry loved his family and friends, and especially enjoyed motorcycling and the companionship of his dog, “Stinky.”

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.

Garry is survived by his devoted wife, Alice, of Ballinger; three daughters, Wendy Hunter of Tulsa, Oklahoma, April King of Cantonment, Florida, and Gina Adams of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Amy Morris of Lubbock; a son, Josh Rains of Austin; two step-sons, Glen and Brian Sledge both of Vidor. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and two great-grandsons; a sister, Jan Rains Cromleigh of Synder; and two brothers, Darrell Rains of Austin, and Jerry Rains of Thorndale.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, October 16 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Monday, October 17 at 11:00 am at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder with Rev. John Wade officiating.
