Wilfred Emil Schniers, 83, of Rowena passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.
He was born July 2, 1928 at Crossroads Community to Joseph F. and Emma Ullrich Schniers. He married Lorene Halfmann on November 18, 1952 in Olfen and together they spent 59 loving years together in their home near Rowena. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a charter member of Crossroads Gun Club. He was a lifelong farmer and loved playing dominoes and cards with his children and grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph Schniers and his brother-in-law, C. J. Buxkemper.
Wilfred is survived by his wife, Lorene of the home; his 10 children; daughters Delores Schwertner and husband, Andy of Lowake, Sharon Young and husband, Bruce of San Angelo, Norma Sharp and husband, Roy of Rowena and Kathy Howard and husband, Mike of Rowena; sons, Kenneth Schniers and wife, Kathleen of Garden City, David Schniers and wife, Jennifer of Rowena, Stanley Schniers and wife, Barbara of Rowena, Maurice (Spider) Schniers and wife, Patty of San Angelo, Tom Schniers and wife, Monica of Miles, and Howard Schniers and wife, Shelly of Rowena; 23 grandchildren, Donnie Schwertner and wife, Danelle, Kyle Schwertner and friend, Brandie, Lynn Binder and husband, Brad, Tammy Padron, Bobby Young, Emily Young and friend, Michael, Amanda Bohannan and husband, Trevor, Kaycee Schniers and friend, Levi, Timothy Schniers and wife, Olivia, Brittany Schniers, Amy Gully and husband, Lance, Jared Schniers and friend, Janie, Erin Evans and husband, Chance, Jason Schniers and wife, Whitney, Marcus Schniers, Brandon Schniers, Randy Lacy, Bryan Lacy, Cassondra Mead, Allison Sharp, and Skylar, Kaleigh and Avery Schniers; and 14 great grandchildren, Alexa, Kameryn, Sawyer, Darrian, Annika, Joseph, Mikayla, Kambry, Randi T., Skylar, Tevin, Jayce, Krystin, and Keeley.
His sisters, Nadine Buxkemper, and Dorothy Frenzel and husband, Bennie, and sister-in-law, Clare Schniers all of Rowena and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 22 at 6:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Cemetery Fund or to the American Heart Assoc., West Texas Rehab Center or a favorite charity.
