Evelyn Laverne Richardson

July 21, 1936 — January 9, 2012

Evelyn Laverne (Lisso) Richardson passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born July 21, 1936 to Arthur and Julie (Kudlacek) Lisso in Runnels County, TX. She grew up in Lowake on the family farm and graduated from Paint Rock High School.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Lisso; her brother, Erwin “Bud” Lisso; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Kudlacek; paternal grandparents, William and Annie Lisso; uncles, Ed Kudlacek, O.C. Lisso, Werner “Pete” Lisso and Delbert Lisso; aunts, Ella Kudlacek, Gladys Lisso, Alma Lisso and Louise Lisso; and a cousin, Alton Lisso.

Evelyn is survived by her mother, Julie Lisso of Ballinger, TX; her daughters, Paula Reed and husband, Raymond “Bubba,” of Grape Creek, TX and Tricia Varquera and husband, Hector, of Saginaw, TX; grandchildren, Erin Jacobs of San Angelo, C.J. Lee of Odessa, Tony and April Reed of Grape Creek; and “her little angel,” the light of her life, a great-granddaughter, Emauri Vinson of San Angelo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Lisso of Lowake; nieces, Susan Harney and husband, Jerry, of Wolfforth and Betty Johnson and husband, Clark, of Saginaw, and their families—Wes Johnson and wife, Melanie, of Pearland, Greg Johnson of Saginaw, and John and Matt Harney of Wolfforth. Also surviving Evelyn are a very special long-time friend, companion and neighbor, Milby Sexton of San Angelo and his family; an aunt, Lorene Lisso of Rowena; cousins, Carol Stokes, Jo Hoffman, Diane Hadley, Barbara Allison, Gloria Stemm, Glenn Lisso and their families. She will be missed by lifelong friends, Dorine Jones, Jean Stone, Suzann Swanson and her dear friend, neighbor and “hockey buddy,” Judy Harper, as well as many other extended family and the friends she has made throughout her life.

There will be a visitation at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger on Wednesday, January 11 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 14 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rowena with Ellen King, VistaCare Hospice Chaplain, officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Viki Forlano and Dr. David Cummings for their outstanding care over the past two years, as well as the Shannon Oncology staff and Out Patient Chemotherapy nurses who always welcomed Evelyn with their warm, wonderful smiles and whom she loved to harass with her every visit. The family would also like to thank VistaCare Hospice, especially Ellen, Jill, Barbara and Ann for all their love, care and support that have made the last weeks of Evelyn’s life comfortable and peaceful.
