Martha Bernice Schroeder - Bailey

Bernice left this earth on Thursday, January 19, 2012. She kept the faith.

She was born October 29, 1930 in the Schroeder farm house on the Concho River attended by Dr. Schiller. After her father, Theo Schroeder, died, she began school at the age of four in Lowake. Her feet did not touch the floor when she sat at her desk. After her mother, Martha, married Alfonse Wanoreck, they made their home on the Rowena farm. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Rowena at the age of 16, then attended San Angelo Business School. She was working at Woolworths when she met her first husband, Robert. She had four children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was an avid gardener and reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gladys Hoppe; and one son, Mike Berch and daughter-in-law, Sharon Berch.

She is survived by her son Steve and wife, Ronda of Albuquerque, NM; son Gordon Berch and wife, Beverly of Albuquerque, NM; and daughter Terri McGee and husband, Glenn of Monahans, TX. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Glenn Hoppe of Winters, TX; nieces, nephew, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, TX. Pallbearers will be Gordon Berch, Steve Berch, Matthew Berch, Glenn McGee, and Glenn Hoppe. Honorary Pallbearers are Allen Andrae and Ty McGee.
