Eileen Yvonne Jorgenson, 57, of San Angelo passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at her residence.
She was born October 4, 1954 in San Angelo to Erling L. and Catherine (Hays) Jorgenson. Growing up, she was active in Girl Scouts and Methodist Church activities such as the church choir. Eileen enjoyed helping her grandfather and uncles with ranch work and became an excellent horseman.
She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1972 where she was a member of the National Honor Society, the tennis team, the choir, and the Paw Prints Annual Staff. She also participated in UIL events, placing in the events of Prose Reading and Informative Speaking.
Eileen attended Kilgore Junior College and East Texas State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting. She later attended Angelo State University and received her teaching certificate.
Right after college, Eileen accepted a job working at KCTV in San Angelo and worked there for several years. Later she worked at Russell Jacoby Builders until the owner retired. During this time, Eileen donated her time to the Humane Society of San Angelo. She then taught for a short time at Wall ISD. Her last employment was as concierge at the Inn of the Conchos until her health began to fail.
Her father preceded Eileen in death in 1990. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Jorgenson of Ballinger; siblings, Lloyd Jorgenson of Abilene, Craig Jorgenson of San Angelo, Elaine Jorgenson of Jacksboro, and Lance Jorgenson and his wife, Misty, and daughter, Hope, of Jacksonville, Florida.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ballinger.
