Barbara Dawn Dankworth

November 16, 1950 — April 25, 2012

Barbara Dawn Dankworth, 61, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 16, 1950 in Houston to Ray and Charlene (Parisher) Green. She received a B.A. degree and became a very special teacher who taught Special Education at Ballinger Elementary School. She was a member of the Ballinger First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Barbara greatly enjoyed teaching children and had various other interests, but she especially loved her horses. She was a member of the US Dressage Federation which promotes that skilled and unique method of riding horses. She was a member of Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, and was an ambassador with People to People to Europe and Australia. Barbara blessed many lives, and she will be deeply and dearly missed. Her ever-ready smile, which was always on display, would fill a room and warm a heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patsy Green Rice; and father-in-law, J. B. Dankworth.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Mike Dankworth, of Ballinger; brother, Ray Green and wife, Nancy, of Mississippi; brother-in-law, Danny Rice of Houston; mother-in-law, Dorothy Dankworth of Ballinger; and nephew and niece, Jonathan and Alison Hess.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Buddy Moore officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tony Harral, Jason Battle, Lance Keilers, Delton Hendricks, John Patterson, Wes Burchfield, John Paty, Jimmy Smith, and Morris Bolton.

The First National Bank of Ballinger will be accepting memorial donations to Ms. D’s Fund for Special Education.
