George G. Lange

July 22, 1918 — April 29, 2012

George Gus Lange, 93, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

George was born July 22, 1918, the tenth child of Ernest and Pauline (Lindemann) Lange. He attended school at Benoit, either walking, in a buggy, or riding horseback to and from school. He served in the Eighth Service Command stationed at Camp Walters, near Mineral Wells during World War II. He married Geraldine Hambright in Miles on August 7, 1946. They lived on the farm where he was born for 65 years.

George was a farmer and drove a Gulf delivery truck for a number of years. He loved horses and trick riding. He enjoyed the time spent with family or friends playing “88.” He loved his wife and family and always had a word of encouragement. He was patient and kind; slow to anger and quick to forgive. Dear Daddy, after years of not being able to see and do the things you enjoyed, we know that you are now seeing amazing things as you stand before the throne of God. We will miss you. George was a member of the Methodist Church and liked to read the Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha Spreen, Matilda Spreen, Dora Stokes, and Clara Ashton; brothers, Julius, Herman, Walter, Robert, and Arthur; his son-in-law, Skeeter Tucker.

George is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Ballinger; three sons, Dennis and wife, Jacque, of Kerrville, David and wife, Michelle, of Lubbock, and Scott and wife, Dana, of Ballinger; and a daughter, Debra Tucker of San Angelo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Greg Lange and wife Gina, Brandee Baird and husband Bobby, Kevin Lange, Misty Webber and husband John, Clint Lange, Tambra Hollway and husband Justin, Corrie Perryman, Rebecca Lange, and Kayla Tucker. Fifteen great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, April 30 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. Burial will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
