Herschel Bonnett

Herschel Marion Bonnett, 82, of Benoit passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at his residence.

He was born September 27, 1929 in Travis County, Texas to Marion and Blanche (Turner) Bonnett, both of whom preceded him in death. Herschel and Jeanene Sites were married September 9, 1951 in Burnet. He earned a B.S. Degree at Sul Ross and for a time taught at the Oak Hill School in Austin. He also worked for the Texas Highway Department in the design division. For the most part Herschel was a rancher, always appreciating the ranch lifestyle, despite the hard work and long hours involved. He was especially fond of horses and became skilled at leatherwork, his favorite hobby. He was a member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ.

Herschel is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanene of Benoit; son, Cole Bonnett of Benoit; daughter, Tonne Williamson and husband, Royce, of Taylor; brother, Norman Bonnett of Waco; and sisters, Iwanda Blesing and husband, Martin, of Benoit, and Reba Seigmund and husband, James, of Canyon Lake. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ryan Bonnett and wife, Nicole, Justin Bonnett, Meagan Bonnett, Chad Williamson, Elicia Josselet and husband, Blake, and Leah Ancell, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.


Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, May 3 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Friday, May 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ in Ballinger. Burial will take place in Norwood Cemetery, near Benoit. Ryan Bonnett, Justin Bonnett, Jimmy Crawford, Rondle Blesing, Chad Williamson, Blake Josselet, Joe Williamson, and Randle Blesing will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Martin Blesing, Nelan Bahlman, Galen Dodson, Jack Fry, Grady Moore, John Haston, and Joe Bryant.
