Lorene Selma Lisso, 85, of Rowena, Texas passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.
She was born September 20, 1926 in Runnels County, Texas to Richard Emil and Pauline Sophie (Burger) Cook. She married Delbert Lisso July 19, 1944 in Winters. He preceded her in death August 12, 2003. She was employed at Strube’s Meat Market, Rowena Steakhouse, and Lowake Inn, and later was bookkeeper at Runnels County Gin in Rowena. She was a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge 216, Texas Farm Bureau, and the United Church of Christ in Rowena.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and all her siblings, Walter, Raleigh, Reinhard, Andrew and Oscar Cook, Gertie Dierschke, and Gladys Lisso.
Lorene is survived by her daughter, Diane Hadley and husband, Dickie, of Veribest; three grandchildren, Debbie Cooper and husband, Robert, of Pasadena, Texas, Deanna Schaefer and husband, Gary, and Donna Taylor and husband, Fred, all of San Angelo. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Clay, Coye, Abby, and Baylee; sisters-in-law, Julie Lisso and Dorothy Cook.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rowena Protestant Cemetery in Rowena.
