Marilyn June Perry

July 23, 1928 — June 2, 2012

Marilyn June Perry, 83, of Llano, Texas and formerly of Ballinger passed away peacefully on June 2, 2012 at Llano Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 23, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois to Erette Dane and Mary Margaret (McDowell) Clevenger. She and her parents lived for a time in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Marilyn attended school. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1946. In the late 1950’s Marilyn came to Ballinger where she lived and worked until 2006 when her poor health required moving to a nursing center in Llano.

Marilyn did payroll and collections at The Ballinger Ledger for 19 years. From 1978 until her health failed, she was employed at the former Heritage Oaks Estate Nursing Home as a certified medication aide, giving excellent care and showing great compassion to all residents there. She and her work ethic were well appreciated by co-workers and families, as well as the residents themselves.

She was a long-time, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Ballinger.
Marilyn loved music and had a beautiful voice. She sang with the Ballinger Community Choir for several years. She also enjoyed drawing, and Disney characters were favorite subjects. She was a fan of Mickey Mouse, the Ballinger Bearcats, and Texas Tech, especially the Tech Band when her grandsons were members of the band. She deeply loved her family and cherished the time she could spend with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Dane Clevenger; and an infant sister, Betty Elaine Clevenger.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Halamicek and husband, Forrester, of Llano; her son, James (Jim) Perry of Stephenville; grandsons, Bobby Halamicek and wife, Kaylee, of Brady, and Mark Halamicek and wife, Justine, of Hewitt; and a great-granddaughter, Brynlee Halamicek of Brady. Also surviving is a close cousin, Dave McDowell of Athens, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger on Sunday, June 24 at 3:00 p.m.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. David Hoerster and all the staff at Llano Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ballinger or to a favorite charity.
