Margaret Ann Schaefer

Margaret Mutersbaugh Schaefer, 73, died September 10, 2012 at her residence near Ballinger, TX. She is now at rest after a valiant fight with cancer awaiting Christ’s second coming. She was born December 20, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA to Mr. Robert T. Mutersbaugh and Margaret Gibbs Mutersbaugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Jane Carolyn Swihart. She is survived by her identical twin sister, Mary Law her husband, Fred, of Akron, Colorado; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert G Mutersbaugh and Jan of Lake Charles LA. Margaret is also survived by her soul mate of 45 years, Leroy Schaefer of the family home and her four children. Her children are Paul and Lisa Schaefer of Round Rock, TX., Catherine and Onofre Murillo of Edgewood, NM, Leroy and Jennifer Schaefer of Denton, TX and Clara Johnson of Ballinger, TX. She is survived by 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

For 50 years Margaret pursued her fondest dream of being a nurse. She graduated with a BS from McNeese University in Lake Charles, LA in 1961 and was awarded an MS in Psychiatric Nursing in 1962 from the University of Maryland, becoming a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse specialist. She spent the next 50 years working either as a clinical nurse specialist or teaching nursing. She was finally forced to retire in 2008 because of health problems.

Her greatest desire was to see each of her children and grandchildren have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Her fervent prayer was that she might live long enough to see this country come back to God in true repentance.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, September 13 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, TX. Funeral services for Margaret will be Friday, September 14 at 10:00 at the First Christian Church of Ballinger. Burial will follow in Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery. Her pallbearers are Stephen Murillo, David Murillo, Nathan Schaefer, Matt Brinkley, Sean Schaefer, Onofre Murillo.
