Grace Currie Malone

Grace Currie Malone, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24, 2012.
She resided in Avalon Residential Care Home in Dallas.

Grace was the youngest of nine children born to W. G. and Minnie Susan Currie in Paint Rock, Texas on July 29, 1919. She graduated from Paint Rock High School in 1937 and married Sam Malone, Jr. of Ballinger on March 12, 1938.

Sam and Grace, along with Gene and Nell Keel, owned and operated Malone-Keel Drug in Ballinger from 1946-1953. After leaving Ballinger, they went on to own several drug stores in Pampa, Ingram, and Lampassas. They were married 43 years until he preceded her in death in April, 1981.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and siblings: Herbert, Bill, Roy, and Floy Currie, Pearl Currie, Ruby Estep, Mary Mosteller, and Ethel King.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Melinda Malone of Dallas, several nieces and nephews, including David Currie of San Angelo, and Carolyn Slaughter of Ballinger.

Grace loved to travel, and she and Melinda enjoyed several cruises. She was also an avid bridge player and belonged to bridge clubs wherever she lived.

A celebration of the life of Grace Malone will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger on Thursday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by her nephew, Dr. David Currie of San Angelo.
