Evelyn Jones Drake

Ollie Evelyn (Jones) Drake, 90, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehab in Ballinger.

She was born September 9, 1922 in Abilene, Texas to John Marion and Sara Jewel (Hitt) Jones. Evelyn and Edwin Drake were married August 10, 1940 in Ballinger, and the family lived in the community since 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of 7th Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margaret Ann Paul; brother, Curtis Jones; sisters, Johnnie Gallagher Bramley and Edna Hunter; son-in-law, Jimmy Stephenson; and grandbaby, Jamie Stephenson.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Edwin Drake of Ballinger; her loving daughter and caregiver, Sandra Jean Stephenson of Casper, Wyoming; and son-in-law, Jesse Paul of California. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jay Paul, Kari Scollard, Shay Sutphin, Jerry Stephenson, and Michael Stephenson; 20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, October 25 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Friday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. at 7th Street Baptist Church in Ballinger with Rev. David Dunn and Dr. James Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery.
