Desma Hilliard Lowry

Desma Hilliard Lowry, age 83, of Ballinger, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

She was born December 14, 1929 in Runnels County to Eulon and Lola Mae (Good) Hilliard. She married Charles Elliott (Shorty) Lowry on June 14, 1947 in Ballinger. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1983. She was also preceded by her parents; a sister, Inoyce Cavanaugh and a brother, Harman Hilliard.

Desma was a member of the First Baptist Church and was always active with the meal committees. She was in sales for many years and was a member of the Ballinger Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Bryan and two sons, Wayman Lowry and wife, Gail and Rex Lowry and wife Rita all of Ballinger; grandsons, Chad Lowry and Kali Gerber, Manzy Lowry, Wade Robertson and Andrew Montgomery; granddaughters, Michelle Watkins and husband, Jack, Leslie Cottingham and husband, Brandon, and Sheree Goetz and husband Ashley; great grandchildren, Marrisa, Tristan, Jenessa, Andraya, and Kaiden Montgomery, Ali Cottingham, Cayleb and Alyssa Watkins, Kiya and Anhora Watkins and Colby and Landan Goetz.

Sisters, Lynn Schwertner and family, Karen and Gary Thompson and Mark and Trish Schwertner; Lavern and Earl Rusk and family Mike and Cheryl Cooper and family and Richard and Cheryl Lynn Rusk and family also survive.

Special friends are Ruth Moreland, Mildred Burress, Bert Bronaugh, Marcille Mapes, Linda Bilbrey, Bobby and Karen Broyles, Faye and Weldon Hampton, Linda and Jerry Ingram, Kathy Walker and family, Martha Jo Powell and aunt Eunice Wilson.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday January 7, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home.

Funeral services w ill be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Ballinger with Bro. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
