Leonard Grantham, Jr., 89, of Miles passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013.
He was born March 25, 1923 in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Leonard and Gladys (Higham) Grantham. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1942 and joined the Navy following graduation. He was a Machinist Mate 2nd Class stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii where he repaired damaged air craft for return to service and to air craft carriers. He served until honorably discharged in early 1946.
Leonard married Eula Beardsley from Santa Rosa, California in June of 1946 and moved from San Angelo to the farm near Miles in 1950. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He worked for Santa Fe Railway Company for 43 years and retired in 1983.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Eula of Miles; two sons, Ronald Grantham and wife, Karla, and Raymond Grantham and wife, Lynda; two grandsons, Austin Grantham and wife, Shaunna, and Aaron Grantham. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo.
