Sharon Evelle Smith

Sharon Evelle (Hampton) Smith, 74, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at a Dallas hospital.

She was born September 2, 1938 in Ballinger, Texas to William Luther and Sarah Estelle (Ingle) Hampton. She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1956 and married Bobby James Smith on November 17, 1956 in Ballinger. Sharon lived in the community almost all her life. She was employed as a clerk for a few years at the Winn’s Store in Ballinger, but family and home were her priorities, and her most important job was that of a loving, caring homemaker. She was a member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twins, Ricky Gale and Vicky Dale Smith; and a great-grandchild, Hank Smith.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Bobby Smith of Ballinger; two sons, Quentin Alan Smith and wife, Teresa, of Burnet, and Gary Lee Smith and wife, Judy, of Austin; a daughter, Rhonda Kay Glover and husband, Chris, of San Angelo; sister, Norma Joyce Herridge and husband, Frank, of Gail; two brothers, Weldon Hampton and wife, Faye, of San Angelo, and Larry Hampton and wife, Nancy, of Abilene. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Blake Smith, Ryan Smith, Nathan Smith, Justin Smith, Rachael Smith, Daniella Smith, Natalie Glover, Garret Glover, and Elijah Samaniego; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Walker, Paiton, and Lorabelle Smith.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, January 30 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Ninth Street Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Old Runnels Cemetery.
