Harvey Gully

Harvey E. Gully, 80, of Rowena died Saturday morning, February 16, 2008, in a San Angelo hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Harvey was born on May 14, 1927 in Rowena to Frank J. and Agnes (Gottschalk) Gully. He married Bernice Lange on September 6, 1949 in Rowena. They enjoyed 58 years of married life. He farmed in the Rowena area all his life.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena and an honorary lifetime member of the Rowena Knights of Columbus Council # 2636. He served many years on the Church Council and had spent many years as a Board Member of St Joseph School.
Besides his love for his family, Harvey took great pleasure and joy in restoring old tractors with his sons and grandsons. He was the head of the Harvey E. Gully Family Antique Tractor Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette; granddaughter, Christie Gully; and brother, Aloise Gully.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Bernice of the home; four sons, Jerome and his wife, Kay of Ballinger, Charles and his wife, Susie of St. Lawrence, Leonard and his wife, Jean and Stanley and his wife, Linda all of Rowena; nine grandchildren, Beverly Kiker, Kimberly Parks and husband, Roy, Keith Gully and wife, Kendra, Scott Gully and wife, Samantha, Brent Gully and wife, Carol, Lance Gully and fiancé, Amy Schniers, Jason Gully and fiancé, Jinna Turner, Bryon Scrivener and wife, Ginger and Steven Scrivener and wife, Frances; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A sister, Adeline Fuchs of San Angelo, and five brothers, Wilbert Gully and Frank Gully of San Angelo, Quentin Gully of California, Rev. Bernard Gully of Big Spring and Robert Gully of Houston also survive.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. A celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Joseph with Fr. Bernard Gully and Msgr. Benedict Zientek concelebrating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Lange Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. Joseph Special Projects Fund or a favorite charity.
