Mendora “Dora” Jalomo, 88, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 6, 1924 in San Saba, Texas to Rumaldo and Josephine Hill Gomez.
She married Paul Lopez Jalomo on December 7, 1942 in Lubbock, and the couple raised a large family. Mr. Jalomo preceded her in death February 5, 1997. Her children fondly described her as an “extra special” homemaker who lovingly and devotedly took care of family and home. Dora was a member of St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Guadalupana Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Ramon.
Dora is survived by her children and their spouses, Dora Jalomo, Daniel and Maria Victoria Jalomo, David and Maria Jalomo, Paul Jr. and Martha Jalomo, Rumaldo and Yolanda Jalomo, Ophilia and Jesse Marinez, all of Ballinger; Noel and Victoria Jalomo of Ft. Worth, Richard and Vickie Jalomo of Ballinger, Sylvia Jalomo of Ballinger, Robert and Maria Anita Jalomo of Rowena, and Rudy and Sylvia Jalomo of Ballinger. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Hill Gomez, and sister, Mary Gomez Pena both of Abilene.
Rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Mary Church with Fr. Hugh Wade celebrating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in Ballinger. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
