Paul A. Deshayes

Paul A. DeShayes, 92 of Austin, formerly of Rowena, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Austin.

Paul was born on September 16, 1915 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William and Clara (Johnson) DeShayes. He was a retired ranch foreman and Controller at the North Island Naval Air Station in California. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen and later became a member of St. Joseph Church in Rowena before moving to Austin to be closer to his daughter.

He was a very active member of the St. Boniface Knights of Columbus Council # 2772 and was the secretary for many years. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rhyllis Lotz DeShayes, in 1960, his wife, Margaret Sprayberry DeShayes, in 1989 and his wife, Ella (Steinbach) Halfmann DeShayes, in 2002.

Paul is survived by daughters, Lynda Christensen of Austin, and Joan Picco of California, and son, Wayne DeShayes of San Angelo; grandsons, Nick Brill and Greg Brill of Austin, David Picco of California, and James DeShayes of Washington; granddaughters, Cassandra Brill of Sydney, Australia, and Heidi DeShayes of Washington; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Clarence DeShayes of Washington.

Rosary will be prayed by the community Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, with Msgr. Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena. Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home of Ballinger.
