Luis Ramirez Torres

Luis Ramirez Torres, 78, of Miles passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27 also at St. Thomas Church with Father Ariel Lagunilla officiating. Burial will follow at the Miles Cemetery.

Luis was born August 25, 1934 in Santigo Rancho, San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico to Luis Vasquez Torres and Dominga Ramirez de Torres. He was a migrant worker, settled in Miles in the 1950’s, and became an employee of C. H. Ray Ranch and later worked for Byrd Farms and Wendell Arlington before retiring in 2001. Luis was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church for over 45 years and the Spanish Bible Class.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by siblings, Guadalupe, Tomas, and Fidel.

Luis is survived by his wife, Teodora Contreras Guzman, who he married on November 24, 1954. The couple of 58 years raised a family of six: Jose Luis Torres; Eduardo Torres and wife, Cristina; Hugo Torres and wife, Karen; Gustavo Torres; Ana Martinez and husband, Salvador; and Alma Rosa Torres. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Nazareth, Israel, Carla, Hugo, Valeria, Joseph, Elizabeth, Christian, Ivan, Janna Lukas, and Jacqueline; and four great-grandchildren: Alondra, Dario, Helena, and Italia. Luis is also survived by his siblings, Angela, Elvira, Gasper, Berulo, Claudina, and Melchor.

The family expresses thanks and love to everyone who gave help, support, comfort, thoughts, and prayers to their father during the last few years.
