Elmer Harral

Elmer Earl “Elmo” Harral, age 81, of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in a local nursing home.

Elmer was born on March 4, 1927 to James Elmer and Hazel Harral in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in Ballinger where he married “the love of his life,” Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Mapes on May 23, 1947. He was employed with West Texas Utilities Company and was transferred to Marfa, Texas in 1955, where the family remained until his retirement in 1988 and 42 years with the company. In 1988 they moved to Lake Whitney, Texas where he loved fishing with his wife and beloved dog, “Killer.” Elmer also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and golf tournaments when “Tiger” played.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruth Harral; and a brother, Kenneth Harral.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Harral; one daughter, D’Ann Nunez of El Paso; one son, Craig Harral and wife, Sharon, of Lake Whitney; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Dorothy Camp of Clovis, NM, Darlene Jones of Rockwall, Mary Cole of San Angelo, Virginia Egan of Ballinger, Martha Sherman of Abilene; two brothers, Paul Harral and Pat Harral, both of San Angelo; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Rev. Roger Baker of the United Methodist Church of San Angelo officiating.

The family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to nurses and aides of Division I at Baptist Memorials: Charlene, Kristi, Kat, Olivia, Regina, Sheila, Valerie, Michael, Mark, Lupe, Patsy, Marjorie, Janie, Melissa, Anna, Terry, Mary Lou, and Tonia Marine; also to Division I Hospice nurses and aides: Mary, Laura, Anita, and Oneida.
