Bernhardt "Ben" Moeller

December 27, 1929 — March 5, 2008

Bernhardt “Ben” Moeller, 78, of Rowena left his relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 5, 2008.

He was born December 27, 1929 in Rowena to Edwin and Otilia Wilde Moeller. He graduated from St. Joseph School as salutatorian in 1947 from a class of fifteen.
In 1960 in Menard he married Peggy (Brown) Gromatzky, who preceded him in death in 2006.

Ben was a farmer and part-time tile mason and carpenter until 1998 when he retired due to health conditions. He was an avid fisherman and earlier in life an expert duck hunter. He loved baking cookies in his Brady Lake cabin when he was no longer able to do boating and trot line fishing for yellow catfish, his preference. Ben was a long-time member of the Crossroad Gun Club and will be remembered for his various Christmas trees and decorations, as well as his homemade cookies.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Schaefer of Rowena; nephews, Dwayne Schaefer and Richard Schaefer; nieces, Paula Schriedel and Carolyn Engle.

Rosary for Ben Moeller will be recited Friday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.

In lieu of flowers, Ben’s wishes are that memorial donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena or to a favorite charity.
