Lurene King Watts

Zanda Lurene (Turner) King Watts, 79, of Ballinger, Texas passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. She was welcomed “home” by her Lord and Savior, and by loved ones who were waiting.

She was born May 21, 1933 in Ballinger to Zander and Janie (Spoonts) Turner. Lurene married Marell King September 30, 1952 in Robert Lee. He preceded her in death May 25, 1997. She married James Watts January 1, 1999 in Ballinger. He also preceded her in death.

Lurene was a beauty operator for 37 years and was well-known and appreciated for her skills as a beautician. Even more, she was appreciated for her loving, caring spirit and her testimony as a devoted, faithful Christian woman. She was always ready and willing to help others and did so with a robust, cheerful attitude. She had been a member of the Nazarene Church for many years and more recently attended Grace Fellowship Church.

Lurene is survived by her children, Ronnie King and wife, Lynn; Windell King and wife, Wanda; Robert King and wife, Gena, all of Ballinger; Ricky King and wife, Prissi, of Round Rock; and Karen Hogue and husband, Travis, of Ballinger. Also surviving are brothers, Jim Turner and wife, Lounan, of Gunter; and Bob Turner and wife, Pat, of Cedar Park. Surviving grandchildren are Marell King and wife Chanda, Bryan King and wife Kelli, Kelly King and wife Amanda, Vernon King and wife Tana, Eric King and wife Kandace, Ronda Sallee and husband Michael; Kyle Hogue and wife Lorena, Jennifer Ripple and husband Brandon; Jessica King, Lori Chandler and husband Jeff, Stacy Taylor and husband Clint; Stephen King and wife Shannon, Tiffany King; Sean King and wife Yuka, William Haney and wife Jennifer. These 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren are left to cherish her memory, as well as other extended family members, her church family, and a host of friends. She will be missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 28 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29 at Grace Fellowship Church with burial in Old Runnels Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
