Clarence Bennie Halfmann

Clarence B. Halfmann, 73, of Ballinger died Sunday morning, March 16, 2008 in a San Angelo hospital.

He was born October 26, 1934 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Bennie August and Opal Alice (Smith) Halfmann. He married Clara Davis on February 7, 1957 in Ballinger, and together they raised a large, hard-working family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, a charter member of Rowena VFW, and a member of Olfen Knights of Columbus Council #2772. Clarence served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a machinist mate.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Betty Boehm.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Clara Halfmann, of the home; five sons, Ben Ray Halfmann and Corrie Blevins of Miles; James Halfmann of Rowena; Bill Halfmann of Sterling City; Steve Halfmann and wife, Anne, of Rowena; and Clarence Halfmann and wife, Stacia, of Kersey, Colorado; four daughters, Opal Poland, and husband, Jeff, of Kerrville; Theresa Grimes and husband, Jerry, of Snyder; Rebecca Corley and husband, Rodney, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; and Margaret Watkins and husband, Quentin, of Norton. Also surviving is a brother, Paul James Halfmann, of Krum, Texas.

Many loving grandchildren also survive: grandsons, Jake Halfmann, Damien Halfmann, Bryan Halfmann, Justin Halfmann Jason Halfmann, Kyle Halfmann, Reid Corley, Christian Watkins, Jimmy Halfmann, Matt Halfmann, and Kyle Beach; granddaughters, Jessica Halfmann, Ashley Poland, Erica Poland, Jill Halfmann, Kana Grimes, Mackenzie Watkins, Madison Watkins, and Roxanne Halfmann.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Bhaskar Morugudi officiating. Grandsons will be pallbearers and granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena. Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.
