Doris Lucille Halfmann

March 31, 1928 — April 9, 2013

Surrounded by her children, Doris Lucille Greger Halfmann, 85, of Ballinger, left this world on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at San Angelo Community Medical Center. Her Lord and Savior, as well as loved ones and friends, rejoiced at her coming home. Those she left behind also shared in the joy of her everlasting health, happiness and peace. “He reached down from on high and took hold of me….” Psalm 18:16a

One of seven children, Doris was born on March 31, 1928 to Frank and Viola Lott Greger in Lott, Texas. She married Erwin Halfmann on June 2, 1948 in Marlin, Texas and moved to Olfen to farm alongside her husband. He preceded her in death March 22, 1974. Together they created a life centered around God, family, friends, farm work and love. Their union was blessed with seven children in a home that never knew a stranger and her kitchen was always open. Known for her knack of creating delicious meals, she had a magical way of making others feel like family. She was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen along with membership in the Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Barbara Chandler and Betty Hoelscher; and one brother, Robert Greger.

Doris is survived by seven children, Bill Halfmann and wife, Nancy, of Norton; Lois Waggoner and husband, Alan, of Vernon; Carol Kieschnick and husband, Tom, of Giddings; Vi Everett and husband, Gary, of Cleburne; Jane Cook and husband, Rex, of Ballinger; Ken Halfmann and wife, Viki, of San Angelo; and Mary Lyn Book and husband, Charles, of Miles. Also left to treasure her memory are thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Jill Halfmann; Shane, Britnie, Kinsley and Brody Halfmann; Stacy Halfmann; Leslie, Lex, Cody and Cooper Hayes; Christy, Trent, Rylie and Jake DeLeon; Kayla, Zane Braelyn and Kollyns Brandenberer; Kyle Kieschnick and Kent Kieschnick; Cody, Paige and Royce Cook; Robby Cook and Dottie Cook; Cory and Ashley Book; and Kevin Book. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Michalewicz of Crawford; Frances Hurt of Port Arthur; and Patti Robinson and husband, C.J., of Norton; sisters-in-law, Agnes Fuchs, Mary Lou Multer, Dorine and husband, Maurice Moeller, and Lucille Halfmann.
