Raymond Darrell Johnson, 73, of Ballinger, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at his home.
He was born March 30, 1940 in Winters, Texas to Walter William and Thelma (Chapman) Johnson. He served his country honorably in the US Army in the 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam era, achieving the rank of 1st Sergeant during his 18 years of service. Raymond married Krisna Ngprom on December 17, 1992 in Bangkok, Thailand. She preceded him in death March 21, 2005. For a time Raymond was employed as security personnel with gambling casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. He and Krisna settled in Ballinger and were members of Ninth Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; sisters, Betty Binder, Frances Lowe, Louise Wade, and Dissey Johnson; and brother, Edwin (Bubba) Johnson.
Raymond is survived by two sons, Ray Johnson and wife, Maria, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mike Johnson and wife, Tonya, also of Las Vegas; sisters, Shirley Waller and husband, Charles, of Ballinger, and Gladys Wade of Abilene. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jarin Johnson of Las Vegas, Cody Johnson of Colorado Springs, Rebakah Johnson of Mississippi, Masyn Johnson of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private memorial service.
