Ouida Dickinson

December 1, 1925 — April 30, 2013

Ouida Dickinson (know as Sissy to her family), 87, of Ballinger, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Baptist Memorial House of Hope in San Angelo. She resided with her Myrtlewood Assisted Living family for the last seven and half years.


She was born on December 1, 1925 to Jesse and Arline Hambright. Ouida was born in Norton, Texas and married H.K. Dickinson. They were married 50 plus years, living mainly in the Ballinger area. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Ballinger. She served her community as the activity director of the nursing home and working for the cancer society many years as a survivor. She spent many happy hours working with her flowers, playing with her pets, crafting, and enjoying her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband H.K. Dickinson, her sister Lanelle Davis, sister-in-law Ruby Blackmon and sister-in-law Demp Blackmon.

Ouida is survived by two brothers, Winford Hambright and wife Jean of Odessa, and Kenneth Hambright and wife Shirley of Abilene. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Marlin Davis of Norton. Also surviving her are nieces and nephews, Nelda Griffin and husband Dan, and Twila Teague and her husband David, Janice Smith and husband Chuck, Wayne Hambright and wife Tanya, Stephen Hambright, Jessica Ryals and husband Tom, Roger Blackmon and wife Karen, and Joann Lewis and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday May 4, 2013 in the Old Runnels Cemetery with her great-nephew, Monty McCulley, officiating.
