Vicente Galvan Medrano Sr, 83, of Ballinger, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab.
He was born July 19, 1929 in Hatchel, Texas to Donaciano and Manuela Medrano. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was a member of the National Guard for eight years. After serving his country, he married the love of his life Tomasa Gonzales Albear, on September 30, 1954, with whom he shared 58 loving years. He was a longtime member of St Mary Catholic Church and a forth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked for Mueller Supply, starting in 1957 until he retired in 1991. Vince, as he was known by everyone, was one of a handful of employees that had been at Mueller Supply since the very beginning. In fact, he worked for the Mueller Brothers even before Mueller Supply came into being.
Vince was preceded in death by his loving parents and five sisters; Carmen, Cruz, Juanita, Sipriana, and Lorenza. He was also preceded by one granddaughter, Frances Molina.
He is survived by his wife Tomasa and children; daughter Silvia Molina and Larry Flippin of Ballinger, son Vicente Medrano Jr and wife, Maria (Gaboriault) of New Braunfels, son Mario Medrano and wife Denise (Wilde) of Rowena, seven grandchildren; Eric Molina and wife, Janessa (Hopkins), Matthew Medrano, Marcus Medrano, Madeleine Medrano, Shelly (Overgard) and husband, Justin Pullin, Rachel Medrano, and Carrie Medrano, four great-grandchildren; London Molina, Brett Molina, Lorenzo Medrano, and Hannah Pullin. He is also survived by three brother-in-laws, five sister-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
The family has requested that donations be sent to The Army Emergency Relief Fund in lieu of flowers.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 9, at 7:00 pm at St Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 10, at 10:00 am also at St Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ballinger.
