Eldon “Shorty” Workman, 77, of Ballinger passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at House of Hope in San Angelo.
He was born on March 12, 1936 in Pumphrey, Texas to Albert and Vivian (Mitchell) Workman. Eldon married Kay DeHay in Odessa, Texas. While living there, he was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Eldon was a “jack of all trades” working and retiring from the oilfield, as well as, doing carpentry work and painting.
Eldon was preceded in death by his father and three brothers; James, Dean, and Jimmy Workman.
He is survived by his wife Kay, of Ballinger; children, Tye Workman, Tracey Deatherage, James Workman, Mike DeHay, Deanna Colley, and Dalinda Cockrell. He is also survived by his mother, Hollis Workman and siblings, Ruby Redman, Myrtie Bales, Arthur “Butch” Workman, Dorothy Wadsworth, Mary Piel, and David Workman. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 16 from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger.
