Harry Leland Cowan

Harry Leland Cowan, 66, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013.

He was born on July 5, 1946 in Ballinger, Texas to Frank and Clara (Freible) Cowan. Harry graduated from Ballinger High School in 1965. After graduating, he attended ASU where he received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. He married Rose Marie Norton in San Angelo on November 8, 1969. After graduating from ASU, he worked for Safeway for eighteen years and then Walmart, as a maintenance supervisor, for twenty seven years. Harry’s true love was always farming and ranching. He was also an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife and three children, Shannon Cowan of Ballinger, Ann Ozturgut and husband Osman of San Antonio and Shaun Cowan and fiancé Alyssa Heckman of Florida; two grand children, Asya and Abraham Ozturgut. Harry is also survived by his sister Frances Rose and husband Leon of Clyde; parents-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth Norton of Shalimar, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 11 at 7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with visitation from 7:15 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 12 at 11:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church with visitation at 10:00 am.
