Milton “Ray” Knight, 81, of Ballinger passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 6, 1932 in Eola, Texas to Jennings and Ola Mae (Williams) Knight. Ray married Barbara Kay Damron on September 15, 1951 in Ballinger. They shared 61 years together before Barbara’s passing earlier this year. Ray served in the Army during the Korean conflict. After returning from his military service, he and Barbara owned/operated Knight’s Dry Cleaning for over 30 years. Ray was a member of the Ballinger Noon Lions Club. He attended Hatchel Church of Christ prior to moving to Ballinger. He joined the 9th Street Church of Christ and served as a deacon until his health caused him to resign.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Mildred Lackey; and a great-grandson, Hank Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Malisia Goetz of Ballinger, and Jana Foster and husband, John, also of Ballinger; two brothers, Darrell Knight and wife, Marie of Abilene and James Knight of Idaho. Also surviving are grandchildren, Bridget Chancellor and Jeff, Blake Smith and Kenzie, Ryan Smith and Robin, Brandon Goetz and Millie, Nathan Smith and Marsha; and nine great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 13 at Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger with Max Pratt officiating. The family request that memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
