Judith (Judy) A. Mints

Judith Ann Mints, age 70, of Ballinger passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008 in an Abilene hospital.
She was born in Patterson, New Jersey to Charles M. and Elsie (Kretschmar) Williams. Judy and Richard (Rick) C. Mints were married August 31, 1973 in San Diego, California. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2007.

She received a Master’s Degree from Middlebury College in Vermont, studied in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, and was a teacher for a number of years. She taught in Texas schools from 1979 to 2003, and after retirement she and Rick moved to Ballinger.

Judy was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Seekers Sunday School Class, and Friends in Stitches, a sewing group who made purses for the church’s annual fundraiser/auction. She volunteered weekly at the Ministerial Alliance Food and Clothes Pantry. Judy was also a member of the Ballinger Garden Club and the Circle of Friends, a ladies service organization.

She is survived by her step-sons, CWO James (Randy) Mints of San Diego, California, and Mark Mints of San Antonio; step-daughter, Tracy Carpenter of Minnesota; and a brother, Jim Williams of Washington, DC. A niece, Karen Williams, four grandchildren, and two dear friends, Jean Hensley of Ballinger, and Charlene Ainsworth of Colorado City, also survive.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 15th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Joe Chamness officiating. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, April 17th at 2:00 p.m. in Steele Branch Cemetery in Stockdale, Texas. There will be a time of visitation at 1:00 PM Thursday at the cemetery prior to the graveside service.
