Obituary for Katherine Werner

Katherine Marie Werner, age 90, of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 5, 1917 in Runnels County to Frank and Adela (Ernst) Schwertner. She married Robert Otto Werner April 12, 1937 in Rowena. He preceded her in death June 19, 1988. Prior to her last illness she had been a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall and Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Angelo. She was a homemaker, a member of Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ludwig Schwertner, Victor Schwertner, and Dora Pechacek.

Katherine is survived by a son, Calvin B. Werner and wife, Lucille, of Miles; a daughter, Theresa Sonnenberg and husband, Dalton, of Paint Rock; a brother, Bobby Schwertner and wife, Dorothy, of Rowena; a sister, Lilly Schraer of Lowake; and a sister-in-law, Lillie Schwertner of Rowena. Also surviving are grandchildren, Steven Werner and wife, Susan, of Paint Rock; Janell Eckert and husband, Danny, of San Angelo; Richard Werner and wife, Karen, of Lewisville; Stacey Sonnenberg and wife, Brenda, of Paint Rock; Scott Sonnenberg and wife, Angie, of Lubbock; Clifton Sonnenberg and wife, Kerri, of San Angelo; Jill Kellermeier and husband, John, of San Angelo, and several great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, April 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena with Fr. Bhaskar Morugudi and Fr. Bob Baden concelebrating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home. Guests may register at ballingerfuneralhome.com.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund.
