Larry Wayne Holubec

Larry Holubec, 59, passed away in San Angelo, Texas on July 22, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in San Angelo, Texas on March 7, 1954 to Edward and Trudy (Smetana) Holubec.

Larry lived in the Eola Community his entire life. He was a farmer and a gifted mechanic. He loved hunting, John Deere tractors, Chevrolet trucks, and his yellow Camaros. He was always willing to help out those in need. He spent countless hours mentoring and teaching; passing along his knowledge of cars, farming, and hunting. He was a man of integrity and faced his last battle with courage and dignity. He impacted more people than anyone could imagine. He was proud of his profession, which included being Director and Vice President at his beloved Mereta Co-op.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his three sisters, Linda McCune and husband, Wayne, of San Angelo Patsy Kahlig and husband, Mike, of Mertzon, and Judy Jennings and husband, Eddie, of Kermit; and cousin by birth, brother by choice, Wayne Smetana and wife, Becky. Also surviving are five nieces and nephews; Joe Kahlig, Michon Tucker and husband, Gary, Kris Kahlig and wife, Brandy, Jon Jennings and wife, Natalie, Heather Hayes and husband, Steven; four great nephews, Rhetick and Bryson Hayes, Gavin Tucker, and Aidan Kahlig. Dava Smetana and Scott Smetana were among the countless people that he cared so dearly for.

The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their compassion and guidance through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of San Angelo.

Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena with Father Aerial Lagunilla and Father Tom Barley concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
