Obituary for Jimmy Luera

Santiago R. “Jimmy” Luera, 62, of Ballinger passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

He was born December 30, 1945 in Ballinger to Margarito and Aurora (Rodriguez) Luera. Jimmy married Enriqueta “Henrietta” Vara on October 24, 1965 in Ballinger. He was a long time Ballinger resident and was employed at Alderman-Cave Feed in Winters for several years. His hobbies were playing pool, spending time with family, and making people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Josephina DelaCruz, on February 14, 2008.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Henrietta, of the home; two daughters, Diane Lopez and husband, David, of Lubbock, and Suzanne Jalomo and husband, Richard, Jr. of Ballinger; a son, Ronnie Luera and Maria Trevino of Winters. Also surviving are his brothers, David Luera of Ballinger, Felix Luera of Metter, GA, and Reyes Luera of Abilene; sisters, Rosalinda Gonzales of San Antonio, Margarita Luera of Coleman, Lucy Damian of Arlington, and Juana Luera of Coleman. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Victoria and David Lopez, Jr.; Veronica, Ryan, Brianna, and Kimberly Luera. He will also be missed by his loving pet, Spanky.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger with Father Hubert Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the Latin-American Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Luera, David Lopez Jeremiah Luera, Oscar Lopez, Raymond Luera, Jose Rangel, Gabriel Rangel, D. J. Lopez, Chris Luera, Richard Jalomo, Jr., Robert Vera, James Luera, and Ryan Luera.

Services are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home. Guests may register at ballingerfuneralhome.com.
