Elliott Kemp

Elliott Kemp, 95, passed away August 12, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

He was born on December 18, 1917 to George and Patty (Park) Kemp in Coleman, Texas. Elliott served in the Air Force during World War II. At the time of his honorable discharge, he had reached the rank of major. He married Mary Jo on November 6, 1938 and they enjoyed 74 years together. Elliott spent most of his life farming and ranching in and around Ballinger. Elliott was mayor of Ballinger and at one time, a Runnels County Judge. He was also in the Air Force Reserves and VFW, an instructor at Bruce Field, member of the Lions Club, and the Masonic Lodge. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Ballinger.

Elliott was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Park Kemp.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo of Denton and children, Annette Neyman of Houston and Stephen Kemp of Talpa. Also surviving are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday at First Baptist Church in Ballinger.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to The American Red Cross or a favorite charity.
