Victor Alfred Strakos

Victor Alfred Strakos, 88, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ballinger, Texas.

He was born on September 3, 1924 to Ludy and Willie (Fisher) Strakos in Rowena, Texas. Victor served his country, during World War II, as a member of the Army and was honorably discharged, with the rank of sergeant, in 1947. After his military service, he went to work for Ballinger Truck and Tractor as a diesel mechanic. He worked there for twenty eight years. Victor was an active member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Victor attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Betty Strakos, and infant brother Bennie Strakos.

He is survived by his sisters, Pauline Mazur of Ballinger, Dorine Binder of Ballinger, Rosalie Motl of Llano, Josephine Egan of Lancaster, and brothers, Joseph Strakos of Sherman, and James Strakos of Springhill, Florida. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Lange Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena with Fr. Aerial Lagunilla celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
